Psychological scientist on the intersection of trauma & addiction

Psychological scientist specializing in nonpharmacological treatments for addiction, addressing trauma and addiction in rural Appalachia and Scotland, and exploring ways to mobilize the faith community to address addiction, neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), and mental health challenges. Psychology Professor at East Tennessee State University; Associate Director of Research in the ETSU Ballad Health Strong BRAIN Institute; President of Uplift Appalachia, a nonprofit focused on equipping local churches to address addictions, mental health challenges, and other life struggles. I've spoken across the US and several foreign countries about the intersection of trauma and addiction. I am able to liaise among the faith community, science community, and healthcare community, and have extensive experience speaking and training.
